It was officially founded on June 8,1914 but World War I caused its official activities to only in 1935. It was founded at the headquarters of the Brazilian Federation of Rowing Societies as an initiative from the Metropolitan League of Athletic Sports. The BOC has multiple sources of income, but its principal means of funding is its 2% share of all the profits from the Brazilian National Lottery and other games of chance. The BOC is presided by Carlos Arthur Nuzman, and its project is the 2016 Summer Olympics. The BOC is responsible for enrolling Brazilian athletes in every Olympic Games, the policy used by the institution is the meritorious inclusion. The Brazilian Olympic Committee has submitted bids for hosting the Olympic Games. In Brazil, the BOC is the authority for submitting a bid. Brasília has made a bid for the 2000, but withdrew early before the final election, in recent times, the city of Rio de Janeiro has been the preferred candidate, having made bids for the 1936,2004 and 2012 games. Rio failed to become a candidate city both times, Rio de Janeiro was elected to host the 2016 Games on its fourth bid submission in 2009. In 2004, when it was time to submit the bids for the 2012 games, São Paulo insisted that it could produce a bid that would be more competitive than that of Rio de Janeiro. The BOC could only one national bid and decided to settle the issue internally. Both cities were required to present their bid for the Games for evaluation by the delegates voting, the result was a landslide in favor of Rio de Janeiro, and the BOC then submitted the citys bid for the Games. Это было самое желанное золото Бразилии. Если бы стоял такой выбор, то она, не сомневаюсь, променяла бы на него все свои победы на этих Играх – и в легкой атлетике, и в дзюдо, и в пляжном волейболе. Нет, конечно, прыгун с шестом Силва на какой-то момент осчастливил страну, но успех в футбольном турнире был для бразильцев нечто несоизмеримо большим, чем просто золотая медаль Олимпиады.

И дело не только в давней, навязчивой, казалось бы уже несбыточной мечте покорить наконец единственную остававшуюся не взятой футбольную высоту. Слишком уж много неудач свалилось на Бразилию в последнее время. Позорные 1:7 и жесточайшее разочарование на ЧМ-2014. Провал за провалом на Кубке Америки – на недавнем июньском турнире в США «селесао» не смогли выйти из группы с Перу, Эквадором и Гаити. Отсутствие новых звезд. Плюс еще эта аура «Мараканы» с воспоминаниями о трагическом матче с Уругваем на ЧМ-1950…

Задумываясь обо всем этом, вспоминая те книги и статьи, что когда-то прочитал о том же злосчастном поражении от Уругвая в 1950-м, понимаешь, почему практически вся сборная Бразилии – игроки, тренеры, персонал – после решающего пенальти в исполнении Неймара дружно начала рыдать, повалившись на газон. Вместе с этими слезами уходило не только напряжение финального матча, нет. С ними уходили разочарования и боль, что копились все эти годы. Бразилия снова может чувствовать себя победительницей. Она снова на футбольной вершине.

И, в общем-то, неважно, что не было в ее исполнении той самой пресловутой joga bonita, того самого futebol de arte (еще один призрак, который бродит по Бразилии и миру вот уже несколько десятилетий, с чемпионата мира-1982 уж точно). И по ходу турнира, и непосредственно в финале Германия местами была «бразилистей». Дриблинг, короткий пас, передачи пятками по несколько штук за одну атаку – все это у немцев было, и их игра, например, в полуфинале с Нигерией смотрелась на одном дыхании. А то, что в овертайме в финале встали от усталости – это другое дело.

Впрочем, финт Неймара в середине первого тайма, когда он, пяткой подбросив мяч, попытался перекинуть его через голову немецкого защитника, наверняка войдет в нарезки на YouTube., посвященные этому матчу. Но о Неймаре – особый разговор.

Пять лет назад один мой товарищ, большой любитель и знаток бразильского футбола, после вылета «селесао» с Кубка Америки-2011 (тогда в четвертьфинале их в серии пенальти выбил Парагвай) написал, что Неймар станет большим игроком, но он не приведет Бразилию к победе на чемпионате мира. Как приводили Роналдо или Ромарио. Удар коленом в спину колумбийца Суньиги нарушил чистоту эксперимента в 2014-м. Надеюсь, в 2018-м ничего подобного не случится, но я все равно верю товарищу. И дело не в Неймаре лично, а в тех людях, кто его окружают. Не та свита. У Роналдо и Ромарио покруче была. В разы.

Но свое место в истории Неймар уже занял. Теперь он – человек, который привел Бразилию к первой в истории победе на Олимпиаде. На домашней Олимпиаде. В финале на «Маракане». Человек, забивший в этом финале гол-красавец, а потом реализовавший решающий пенальти в послематчевой серии. Уфф, достаточно… И плевать, что он так и не дотянется до чемпионата мира. Что он не был и не станет первой скрипкой в «Барселоне». Медаль из Рио перевешивает все.

Большинство олимпийских лицензий на Игры 2018 года были распределены по результатам выступления спортсменов в рамках чемпионата мира 2017 года[1]. По его итогам сборная Бразилии не смогла завоевать ни одной лицензии[2]. Для получения недостающих олимпийских квот необходимо было успешно выступить на турнире Nebelhorn Trophy, где нужно было попасть в число 4-6 сильнейших в зависимости от дисциплины[1]. По итогам трёх дней соревнований бразильским спортсменам удалось завоевать лицензию в женском одиночном катании. Её принесла участница Игр 2014 года , занявшая на турнире пятое место[3].
